Let's Dance Again (women's story)

That year, I was out of work - the funding for our hospital was cut, and many people had to look for a new place. I got a job as a nurse in a nursing home. One of the employees told about an old woman who used to work here as a cleaner, who sneaks into the hall at night and dances in the dark, claiming that her fiance, who died during the war, comes to her.

- The other orderlies won't let her in, they kick her out, but I won't. Let her amuse herself with illusions, it's probably easier for her. You know better what to do, see for yourself, but I feel sorry for her...
on my first night shift, I heard quiet footsteps in the hallway. I looked out of the waiting room and saw a gray-haired granny who was tiptoeing towards the hall.

To tell the truth, I would never have given her the ninety-two years listed on her medical record. Maria Pavlovna looked at most seventy years old! The door slammed, and I crept in to watch her: you never know what. An elderly woman was standing in the middle of a dance floor, probably intended for dancing. "Hmm... a dance floor in a nursing home?

In my opinion, this is on the verge of bullying the elderly, many of whom are unable to walk!" Then I heard a soft laugh and the words:
"I'm so glad we're back together!" It's a shame, you always disappear so early... We're still not going to finish our dance!

And the old lady began to waltz, but in such a way that it seemed as if she was being led by an invisible partner.
For some reason, it became awkward for me to peek, and I went to the nursing station. And a few days later, Grandma had a heart attack, she needed to get an injection and put on an IV.
- Sit with me, Alyona, at least a little... It's so boring to be alone, not even to talk to anyone! There was no urgent work, so I stayed.

- I saw how you were watching Vanechka and me! But that's okay! You're not interrupting, he disappears before we dance anyway!
I was silent, not knowing what to say.
- Before the war, there was a school in this building, as it used to be called, for working youth. This is where I studied, and this is where I met Vanechka," she wiped away a tear with the corner of her handkerchief and added very quietly: - This is where my beloved died... Do you want me to tell you?

I nodded back.
- In this hall we studied in a dance club. His supervisor taught mathematics, and in the evenings he gave dancing lessons for boys and girls. Free of charge, on a voluntary basis. One day, young specialists were sent to the factory in the city, and Vanyusha was among them! The love between us broke out from the first dance, as I hugged him, and I felt that he was mine! We were already planning to get married... And then there's the war... The Germans quickly captured our village, but we managed to join the partisans... However, someone betrayed our squad. And then the fascists captured us, herded us into this hall," she sighed heavily. "I'll cover you with me! My beloved whispered to me. "They'll start shooting, fall down right away!" Maybe you'll survive!" And so it happened...

After a short pause, Maria Pavlovna continued:
"I've been lying here among the corpses for two days, because I'm the only one left alive!" And then she got out and joined the partisan unit again. After the war, she first got a job as a cleaner at this school, and when a new building was built and a nursing home was located here, she stayed that way. After all, here I... see Vanechka... There, in our hall, we're dancing our last dance...

Her story made me feel uneasy. I felt sorry for the woman: she lives by an illusion...
and after a few shifts, I followed her back to the gym at night. I quietly opened the door and almost fainted from what I saw! A young girl was standing in the gloom of the hall, and next to her was a handsome guy. He hugged her, and the couple began to waltz... I must have imagined it! She shook her head and rubbed her eyes. The vision disappeared, but a new one appeared in its place: Maria Pavlovna circling with an elderly gray-haired man. Not in a shabby robe, but beautiful, elegant. They're having fun talking about something, but I can't hear the words. It got kind of creepy. I squeezed my eyes shut for a few seconds, and when I opened my eyes, Maria Pavlovna was standing in front of me.:
- Alyonushka, tell me, I'm not crazy, am I? Have you seen him too? - Yes... but... This just can't be happening! If this is your Vanya, then ghosts don't age!

- As you can see, it can. He wants to match me... ...I recently found out that the dear old lady was no longer alive, and my first thought was: "Finally they will dance their dance! Only there, in another world. He's probably waiting for her, he can't help but wait! Those who died for love will never stop loving and waiting."..
